Beskrivning
The course "Tumor Metastases: Detection and Therapy" aims to provide the student with integrated knowledge of tumor metastases, including cellular aspects of metastases, current and future detection and treatment options, as well as chronic cancer and palliative care for patients with metastatic cancer.
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and training needed to approach and formulate scientific questions relevant to the topics.
Inlärningsmål
At the end of the course the students are expected to:
* Have knowledge of the cell biological basis for tumor cell dissemination.
* Know about current situations and treatment options for a number of cancer types with local recurrences or distant metastases.
* Have practical and theoretical knowledge about the various medical imaging techniques for detection of metastases.
* Have knowledge on some of the possible future therapeutic options for treatments of metastases.
Innehåll
The course includes:
* Lectures on cell biology related to metastases, current situations and treatment options for a number of cancer types with local recurrences or distant metastases, current and future imaging techniques for detection of metastases, and future therapeutic options for treatments of metastases.
* Practical exercises based on molecular imaging.
Undervisning
The course is mainly provided for NatiOn and U-CAN research students.
The course is scheduled for one full-time week of lectures, discussion and practical training.
At least 80% attendance on lectures is required to pass. Seminars and practical exercises are compulsory.
Examination
Individual writing assignments, active participation in discussion seminars, and an examination seminar at the end of the week.

Scientific articles and reviews. Handouts from lectures and seminars.
