Beskrivning
The course has a reproductive health perspective and aims to raise awareness of mental / psychological / emotional health in different situations and conditions of life and focuses on the relationship relevant to nursing/midwifery. The course has a theoretical basis starting in the relationship theories and psychosocial aspects of sexual, reproductive and perinatal health. The course aims to provide knowledge on key concepts, theories and research methods in the field of sexual and reproductive health with focus on psychosocial aspects.
Inlärningsmål
Knowledge and understanding
-describe the key concepts and definitions for attachment and bonding theories as well as development theories related to the psychosocial aspects of sexual and reproductive health
- describe and discuss the psychosocial / emotional aspects that may be present in the area of sexual and reproductive health
- describe and discuss the importance of patient-caregiver relationship and professional care in the field of psycho-sexual and reproductive health
-be familiar with methods of data collection in the field
Skills and abilities
-scientifically analyze and synthesize knowledge and self-critical examination of literature applicable to the field of sexual and reproductive health
-identify and formulate hypotheses, plan and implement an individual work in their chosen field of psychological aspects of sexual and reproductive health
-demonstrate an ability to identify needs for further knowledge in the area of psychological aspects of sexual and reproductive health
Values and attitudes
- Demonstrate the ability to critically, independently and with scientific precision in the examination and evaluation of current research, and other students' individual work
Innehåll
The focus of the course includes psychosocial aspects of sexual and reproductive health and well-being and its relationship with the professional care. Some examples of deepening areas that will be investigated are depression during and after pregnancy, fear of childbirth, stillbirth, birth requests that deviate from the norm, violence during and after pregnancy, relational problems, parental stress and competence of the new born baby.
The content is based on the following theories:
- Attachment theory: concepts and definitions, and developmental psychology
from nursing/midwifery perspective in sexual and reproductive health
- Relationship theory: including the patient-caregiver relationship and the professional care in the psychosocial aspects of sexual and reproductive health
- Social-constructivist theory, which includes a historical reflection on the development and perception of psychosocial sexual and reproductive health
