Description
The course is directed to PhD-students who work in different positions in health care and who conduct clinical research.
Prerequisites: Admitted to PhD studies in the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy at Uppsala University.
Selection: PhD-students in the research group of General Practice.
The course consists of seminars, 10 days, 6 hours each time, once a month for two semesters. On campus and hybrid lectures.

Learning outcomes
Learning objectives:
• Be able to identify and suggest research methodology that is applicable within general practice.
• Show ability to conduct and actively contribute to scientific discussions and present scientific material orally and in writing within the subject area of general practice.
• Show ability to use peer-to-peer supervision as a method to develop the scientific work.
Contents
The course contains:
• Practical teaching in research methodology and presentation orally and in writing.
• Methods how drafts are developed into scientific text intended for publication.
• Scientific exchange with external researchers.
• Updated information on methods in for example statistics, reference management and bibliometrics.
Instructions
The course content is taught through the participants´ own scientific presentations, group review of of scientific texts, seminars and lectures.
Mandatory elements:
One presentation based on the student´s own research work, one self-produced scientific text for a joint review and feedback, active participation through discussion, 75% attendance (during two semesters, including half days).
Examination
To pass the course the student needs to:
• give at least one oral presentation
• produce at least one scientific text
• participate actively, including feedback and comments
• aquire 75% attendance on the course
