The collaboration between you as a postgraduate student and your supervisor will go on for several years, often intensively and under great pressure. Itís therefore very important that you have a good relationship. The supervisorís chief task is to help you develop into an independent researcher with a scientific approach.

Within the disciplinary domain for medicine and pharmacy all admitted postgraduate students must have one main and one assistant supervisor. Itís obligatory for supervisors to participate in the disciplinary domainís supervisor training programme.

Supervising and commitments should be clearly defined in the individual syllabus. Itís therefore important that you and your supervisors determine at an early stage what expectations you have on each other, and that you review how each of you has lived up to his or her commitments as part of the annual follow-up of the syllabus
